Frequently Asked Questions
How are Quantum heaters different from older storage heaters?
Rest assured, the core principle remains the same: Quantum heaters charge up using cheaper off-peak electricity and then release heat gradually throughout the day to keep your home comfortable.
What sets Quantum heaters apart is their exceptional heat retention.

Unlike older storage heaters, which absorb a charge overnight and release heat passively through convection and radiant heat, Quantum heaters are engineered to store and control heat far more efficiently. Here's how:

-
High-Density Thermal Bricks
Quantum heaters use a large quantity of premium, densely packed ceramic bricks designed specifically for thermal storage. -
Advanced Insulation
The core is surrounded by cutting-edge insulation materials that significantly reduce heat loss, keeping the stored warmth inside until it’s needed.

To distribute heat, Quantum heaters use a whisper-quiet fan (just 21–24 decibels - softer than a fridge), which gently releases warmth based on your thermostat settings, ensuring the right temperature at the right time - not just when the heater decides to release it.
How are Quantum heaters different to other Lot20 storage heaters?
Quantum heaters stand out because of how efficiently they retain and reuse heat. Any unused heat from the day is stored and carried over to the next day, meaning the heater needs to draw in less charge overnight - saving energy and reducing running costs.

What truly sets the Quantum apart is its market-leading HHR (High Heat Retention) status. Compared to other LOT20-compliant storage heaters, it’s simply better at holding onto heat thanks to its high-density thermal bricks and advanced internal insulation. This allows it to deliver warmth only when needed, with minimal waste, making it the most efficient choice on the market.

If your Quantum heater is set to 21°C and the room is already at that temperature, it won’t waste energy by drawing in unnecessary heat. Instead, thanks to its market-leading heat retention, it stores any unused heat for the next day. This means it takes in less charge during the next off-peak cycle, helping to lower your electricity costs automatically.
No - Each heater has it's own independent control.

Quantum heaters are designed to be simple and flexible. Everything you need to run the heater - setting the temperature, daily schedules, boost mode, holiday mode, and more – can be done directly on the heater itself using the built-in control panel. No app is required to get full functionality.
So if you're not into tech or just prefer the old-school way, you're fully covered. The heater works straight out of the box without needing to connect to Wi-Fi or download anything.

87% of our customers, based on a 15-person survey in 2021, did not adjust their settings 1-year after our initial set-up.

Want to control the heater from your phone or link multiple heaters together in different zones?

That’s where the app comes in - but it’s totally optional.
To use the app and get remote access or zone control (controlling multiple heaters in different rooms), you’ll need to add a small device called a hub.
Don’t worry - the hub is plug and play, and no engineer or special setup is required. You can add it at any time if you decide you want more control from your phone or tablet.
Do I need to use an app to control my heaters?
Can I still turn my Quantum heater off during warmer periods?
Yes – you can switch your Quantum heater off during warmer months if you’d like to.

Each Quantum heater has a built-in battery backup that stores your settings even when the power is off. This means when you turn it back on later (for example, when the weather gets colder), all your previous settings and schedules will still be saved.
The battery typically lasts up to 3 years - so no need to worry about losing your settings over summer. Especially helpful if your property is prone to power cuts.

But here’s the clever part…

You don’t have to turn it off at all. Quantum heaters are fully thermostat-controlled and automatically adjust themselves based on the room and outside temperature. This means:
-
If the room is warm enough, they won’t use any unnecessary energy
-
They’ll only store the charge they actually need
-
You can just leave them on, and they’ll quietly manage themselves without wasting power
How long does installation take?
Installation time varies from install to install.

As a rough guide, each Quantum heater takes just a few hours to install, depending on the property and layout.
Our team will:

-
Remove any old storage heaters (if required)
-
Fit the new Quantum heater
-
Make all necessary electrical connections
-
Set it up and show you how to use it

If you’re having multiple heaters installed, we always aim to carry out the work as efficiently and smoothly as possible, keeping any disruption to your home to a minimum. In most cases, a full power shutdown isn’t necessary. However, if a brief power interruption is required for safety, our engineers will clearly communicate this in advance and ensure it’s kept as short as possible.
Yes – absolutely, we’re here to help.
